School Counseling
Professional school counselors are certified/licensed educators with a master's degree or higher in school counseling, making them uniquely qualified to address the developmental needs of all students. School Counselors address students' academic, career, and social/emotional needs by designing, implementing, evaluating and enhancing a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and helps maximize student success.
The Counselors are available daily for students to contact to discuss their academic plan, connect with scholarship and financial aid, address any social/emotional concerns and much more. Parents and students are welcome to contact their student's counselor to make an appointment!
The mission of Knox County Virtual School Counseling is to provide every student with a comprehensive school counseling program centered around an engaging curriculum that encourages growth in academic, career, and personal/social domains.

With over 12 years of experience as a dedicated special education teacher and now entering my 12th year as a school counselor, I bring a strong commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional success of all students. My background in special education has equipped me with deep expertise in individualized instruction, advocacy, and collaboration, which continues to guide my work in counseling. As a school counselor, I focus on fostering student growth, building positive relationships, and empowering students to overcome challenges and reach their fullest potential.

With over 25 years in education, I have built a career rooted in student advocacy, equity, and holistic development. Beginning as a substitute teacher in Waianae, Hawaii in 1999 and later as a special education paraprofessional at Gibbs Elementary in Tennessee, I gained firsthand experience supporting diverse learners and fostering inclusion. Motivated to expand my impact, I became a Restorative Interventionist at L&N STEM Academy, which inspired me to earn a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Behavioral Health from Tusculum University and an M.Ed. in School Counseling from Lincoln Memorial University. For the past seven years, I have served as a high school counselor—first at L&N STEM Academy and currently at Knox County Virtual School—where I support students’ academic growth, social-emotional development, and post-secondary planning. Drawing on my background in special education and restorative practices, I am committed to fostering inclusive, student-centered environments and building authentic relationships that empower every learner to succeed.
